Neglecting Cavity Treatment Poses Heart Risks

The German Association of Dentists has stated that a dental granuloma, a pus-filled cyst the size of a lentil, appears in the jaw area or on the roots of teeth and often results from dental diseases such as cavities, periodontal disease, or inflammation of the pulp. The association added that its symptoms include toothache, redness and swelling of the gums, pain in the gums, fever, and headaches. It is essential to consult a doctor as soon as symptoms are noticed to receive timely treatment and avoid severe consequences that may arise from this granuloma, such as the development of abscesses, bone inflammation, and the spread of infection through the blood, potentially causing serious myocarditis. This condition is treated with medications such as antibiotics, and in some cases, the tooth root or tooth is surgically removed. To prevent the granuloma, one should maintain good oral hygiene by brushing teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, using dental floss to clean the spaces between teeth once a day, and having regular check-ups with a dentist.
