An Iraqi security source reported today, Tuesday, that an explosion occurred in the city of Basra, resulting in 12 fatalities and dozens of injuries. Iraqi security sources confirmed that the explosion, which took place near the "Genova" restaurant by the Republican Hospital in Basra, was caused by a car bomb.
Media outlets broadcasted initial footage of the explosion, showing a bus engulfed in flames with thick smoke billowing from it. Meanwhile, Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani stated that the explosion near the Republican Hospital was a terrorist act bearing the fingerprints of ISIS.
