Tunisia has announced a 2% increase in fuel prices, marking the first rise in two years as the government attempts to curb the deficit in the 2021 budget.
The Tunisian Ministry of Energy stated in a press release that the price of a liter of gasoline will increase from 1.915 dinars to 1.955 dinars. The International Monetary Fund had warned that Tunisia's financial deficit could exceed 9% of the GDP if the government does not implement necessary reforms, including controlling energy subsidies.
