Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday the suspension of incoming flights from seven other countries, adding them to its previous list and implementing new measures for the entry of travelers from these nations due to concerns regarding the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. On Friday, Saudi Arabia had halted flights to and from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Eswatini due to concerns about the new variant. The new countries announced today are Malawi, Zambia, Madagascar, Angola, Seychelles, Mauritius, and Comoros.
The Ministry of Interior stated that entry is prohibited for travelers coming directly or indirectly from the previously mentioned countries, "except for those who have spent at least 14 days in another country that the health measures in the Kingdom allow entry from according to approved health procedures," according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Individuals arriving from these countries, including Saudi citizens, will undergo a five-day quarantine, as mentioned in a statement from the Ministry of Interior.
On Saturday, Saudi Arabia announced that it would allow direct entry from "all countries" for those who have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine within the Kingdom starting next Saturday. Arriving individuals will be subjected to a three-day quarantine, as stated by the Ministry of Interior.
