Tunisian President Kais Saied: I Will Not Become a Dictator

Tunisian President Kais Saied stated on Friday that he will not become a dictator, following his consolidation of all governing powers on Sunday in a move he justified as necessary due to a national state of emergency, although his critics described it as a coup. Saied said, "I am well aware of the constitutional texts and I respect them and I have studied them, and after all this time, I will not become a dictator as some have said."
