Egyptian artist Wael Abdel Aziz, brother of actress Yasmin Abdel Aziz, stirred controversy on social media following his sister's appearance on the program "Ma'akum" on CBC, where she discussed her recent health issues. This was her first television interview after recovering, and she notably did not mention his name or express gratitude towards him during the episode, prompting some to question whether there were any disagreements between them.
Wael Abdel Aziz wrote on his personal Facebook account: "I don't expect my name to be mentioned in anything, and I have always done my duty as a brother. I don't expect appreciation for that, as it is normal towards my family. There is nothing between me and Yasmin; we are fine."
He further added, "I have been working for 17 years, and I have never mentioned or talked about our family relationship until recently after the success of my series in 2017, and she was the one who posted congratulating me. Other than that, I am very happy for her recovery, and I was overjoyed and laughing with her. I ask people not to stir up discord... Let her enjoy her return to her audience, and I will focus on my work as I have neglected my own rights."
