A couple living in Britain was excited to spend their holiday in Spain, but airline staff made a series of mistakes that sent them to a different country, where they faced a series of mishaps. According to the British newspaper "Mirror," on Friday, Farouk Sheikh's son and his wife, Humaira, booked two tickets for their parents to visit Spain for a fall vacation on a low-cost Ryanair flight. However, the couple found themselves in Greece, about 1900 kilometers away from their original destination.
After arriving at Stansted Airport in London, the couple successfully completed the check-in process, but the airline staff did not direct them to the correct plane, and the couple boarded a flight to Greece without the staff noticing. To add to the strangeness of their story, the flight crew did not announce the flight destination through repeated announcements. The couple realized they had gone to the wrong place only when a taxi driver outside Zakynthos Airport in Greece informed them that "this is not Spain." They also received a text message welcoming them to Greece.
Their ordeal did not end there; the airline only agreed, after review, to cover one night's accommodation at a hotel, despite the fact that their return flight to London was four days later. The couple reported that they had to pay for the remaining three nights of accommodation, totaling over $1,400. The airline offered an alternative plan, which involved returning to Britain through flights that would make several stops at airports across Europe, a scenario that seemed difficult for the couple.
Even their return flight was not without issues, as they nearly missed it due to a check-in error, and only one staff member recognized them at the last moment.
