Lavrov: The West May Seek to "Destabilize Russia" Before the Parliamentary Elections

Lavrov: The West May Seek to

Russian Foreign Minister stated that Western countries will attempt to destabilize the country before the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 19. On Thursday, Lavrov asserted, "It can be assumed that before the upcoming parliamentary elections, there will be new attempts to undermine and destabilize the situation, inciting some protests, even violent protests, as the West always tends to do." He added that "the West may launch a campaign of non-recognition of the election results," noting that "these scenarios devised by the West will not materialize." The upcoming elections in Russia will take place at various levels, including parliamentary ones, on September 19, 2021, during the unified voting day. It is worth mentioning that the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, previously indicated that there are external attempts to inflame social tensions in Russia before the parliamentary elections, emphasizing the importance of thwarting any attempts to harm national interests and the rights of Russian citizens.
