UNIFIL Patrols at the Lebanese Border After Wayward Rockets

Amid the escalating situation in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli alert on the border, Lebanese citizens are anxious about the potential for any violations in the south, which could embroil the country, already mired in crises, in a dire predicament. After the launch of three wayward rockets from southern Lebanon yesterday, UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) and the Lebanese army conducted patrols today, Friday, around the site of the rocket launch in the southern region of Qlayla.

### Three Rockets With No Damage

The Israeli army announced yesterday that three rockets were fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel but fell into the Mediterranean Sea without causing any damage or injuries. A Lebanese security source told Reuters that the rockets were launched from the Qlayla area, south of the coastal city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.

While this incident does not indicate the opening of a new front, many analysts and observers are monitoring movements in that area. Previously, small Palestinian factions had intermittently launched rockets from Lebanon towards Israel, but the situation remained under control.

It is noteworthy that these developments come amid ongoing intense Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in more than 119 Palestinian deaths compared to 9 Israelis over five consecutive days, amid international calls for calm that seem to be falling on deaf ears from Tel Aviv or Hamas.
