Turkish Army Conducts Aerial Operations in Kurdistan Region

Military sources in the Kurdistan region confirmed that the Turkish army carried out aerial operations on Saturday morning, deploying groups of "commando forces" onto three strategic mountain peaks in the Metin mountain range surrounding the town of Kani Masi, east of Dohuk province. The sources indicated that the landings were preceded by artillery shelling and airstrikes conducted by six combat helicopters and three F-16 fighter jets. Airstrikes continued from 6 PM on Friday until 9 AM on Saturday. According to media sources from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Turkey deployed its forces on strategically and militarily significant heights, reaching an elevation of 2,300 meters above sea level, overseeing fifty Kurdish border villages in the Kani Masi area. They clarified that the objective of this landing is to limit the activities of the party's fighters in those regions, noting that clashes have been ongoing between the two sides since the morning. This operation comes after the failure of "Claw of the Eagle 2," which was launched by Turkish forces in mid-February.
