American actor Will Smith intends to enter the political field in the future, as he revealed while promoting his new Netflix series titled "The Fight For America."
The Hollywood star, 52 years old, appeared on the "Pod Save America" podcast, hosted by former Obama aides Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor, who asked him questions about his ambitions and inclinations toward politics. Smith stated, "I think right now I will take a little time before diving into politics, and I will think about it at some point later." He clarified: "I definitely have an opinion; I am optimistic, I hope, and I believe in understanding between people and the possibility of harmony. I will certainly play my part, whether it remains artistic or at some point, I will participate in the political arena."
He shared his personal experiences growing up as a Black man in America and discussed the harassment he faced in his life. Regarding his view on racism, he commented: "I grew up with the impression that racists and racism were stupid, and it was easy to get around them; I just had to be smarter now while they were extremely dangerous."
Smith had previously indicated publicly his interest in entering politics, detailing his experience on the CBS "Sunday Morning" program in 2015, saying, "If people keep saying all sorts of crazy things they've been echoing in the news recently about walls and Muslims, they will force me to enter the political arena."
While the star of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" does not rule out entering the political field in the future, he has no immediate plans.
