The Egyptian Ministry of Interior's security forces revealed the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a popular singer on New Year's Eve at a café in Nasr City, following social media reports. According to the details, a complaint was made to the police regarding noise from one of the cafés in the jurisdiction of the First Nasr City police station. Upon the security forces' arrival at the location, four individuals and festival singer Yara Mohamed were arrested for hosting a concert and operating a venue “without a license” and serving shisha in violation of government measures concerning precautionary procedures. One day later, investigators decided to release the singer, her manager, and three other defendants on the condition of their residential guarantees. It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of numerous cafés in Cairo and other governorates for holding New Year's Eve parties without permits and obstructing public roads, as well as serving shisha in violation of the law.
