End of the Champions League: Here's What "Super League" Clubs Will Receive

End of the Champions League: Here's What

The main reason for the separation of major European clubs from UEFA and its tournaments is financial income, which is expected to significantly increase with the anticipated Super League. Over the past months, discussions about a new European competition announced unexpectedly by elite clubs have intensified, and if it actually takes off, it could be devastating for the Champions League, currently the most important European club competition.

According to "Marca," the 12 founding clubs of the tournament will share an initial payment of 3.5 billion euros for participating in the league. The source of this amount has not yet been disclosed, but several sources have indicated that a number of investing companies are ready to inject large sums into the project, including the American bank JPMorgan.

The winning team of the new tournament will receive 400 million euros, which is nearly four times the prize awarded to the winner of the Champions League. Additionally, the league will allocate a billion euros to participating teams, with half distributed throughout the year and the other half awarded based on each team's performance.

The league is also awaiting negotiations on television broadcasting rights, which could generate billions for the clubs, distributed according to a specific formula that has not yet been announced. Sources suggest that the broadcasting contract could reach 10 billion euros, which is multiples of what the Champions League generates.
