Unemployment in Tunisia Leads to Threat of Mass Suicide

Tunisian channel "Nessma" reported that a group of unemployed individuals has threatened to carry out a mass suicide. It clarified that this group of protesters, who threatened to commit suicide, consists of holders of higher education degrees and are over 45 years old.

The channel added, "If the leaks about their exclusion from recruitment under Law No. 38 of 2020 regarding exceptional provisions for employment in the public sector for unemployed individuals who have been jobless for ten years or more and hold higher education degrees are true."

The protesters gathered today, Monday, in the Kasbah Square, demanding that necessary measures be expedited and orders related to Law 38 be issued without excluding their group. Additionally, protesters organized a march in the Tunisian capital to demand the release of all those detained in connection with the recent protests that swept the country.
