According to "Russia Today," the shooting occurred at a Burlington store in North Hollywood during a busy shopping season, after police received reports of a deadly assault and potential gunfire. Some callers indicated they were hiding in the store.
Police noted that when officers arrived, they went upstairs and found a man attacking a woman, and the police opened fire, killing the man whose name has not been disclosed immediately. Dominic H. Choi, Assistant Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, stated in a press conference that the woman who was assaulted was taken to the hospital with injuries to her head and arms. He mentioned that her relationship with the suspect was not immediately known.
He added that "as officers continued to search the store, they noticed a hole in the wall, where they found a 14-year-old girl who had been accidentally killed in the dressing room." For his part, Michel R. Moore, Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, called the shooting "the worst thing anyone could imagine."
