The German Nutrition Society stated that vitamin K has numerous health benefits; it not only prevents diseases but also fights aging. The society explained that vitamin K regulates blood clotting, protects bones from fragility, prevents arterial calcification, and guards against cancer. Additionally, the vitamin helps reduce wrinkles.
Vitamin K is divided into two types: K1, which is found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach and cabbage, as well as in fresh herbs and avocados. This vitamin falls under the category of fat-soluble vitamins, meaning it should be consumed with fats for proper absorption by the intestines. As for vitamin K2, its dietary sources include meats such as duck liver, eggs, and dairy products like Gouda cheese.
