Newborn Found in Airplane Bathroom Trash Bin

A newborn baby was found in a trash bin in the bathroom of a Mauritius Airlines plane, located off the southeast coast of Africa. Authorities at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius discovered the infant during a routine customs inspection, according to the BBC. The report stated that the baby's mother, a 20-year-old who gave birth onboard, was arrested. Initially, the woman denied being the mother of the child, which was found after a New Year's flight arrived in the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis, from Madagascar. The report noted that the mother, whose identity has not been disclosed, underwent a medical examination confirming she had just given birth. The woman, who arrived in Mauritius on a two-year work permit, is under police supervision at a local hospital, where both she and her baby are reported to be in good condition.
