Egyptian Businessman Criticizes Conflicts Hindering Formation of Lebanese Government

Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris has commented on the political crisis in Lebanon, criticizing the conflicts that prevent the formation of a government.

In a tweet on his Twitter account today, Sawiris stated that forming a government is "the international condition to receive international aid from the IMF and the European market necessary to exit the crisis." He explained that while Lebanon suffers from an economic collapse and the spread of the coronavirus, the old guard and politicians continue to fight over positions and influence, obstructing the government formation, which is an international prerequisite for receiving aid from the IMF and the European market needed to overcome the crisis.
