At the annual partners summit, Snapchat unveiled a wide range of updates that include many new shopping features, such as "Try On" augmented reality services, along with a "Gifting" feature. Snapchat showcased tools that will make it easier for users to shop through the app, the most notable being a "Scan" feature that allows the app's camera to detect food labels and Amazon products. The "Screen Shop" feature will recommend clothing when an outfit is "scanned."
The app company is working on expanding its augmented reality features to allow users to "try on" clothing, accessories, and makeup. Although Snapchat has previously experimented with these features, the latest version allows users to control the clothing experience through voice commands and gestures.
Elsewhere in the app, Snapchat is adding two features: the "Poshmark" e-commerce platform, which allows browsing and purchasing products, and "Track Master," which enables friends to find upcoming events and purchase tickets together. Furthermore, the app will allow content creators to leverage their audiences and monetize from their followers through the "Gifting" feature, which enables the purchase of "Snap Stars" stickers, according to "Engadget."
