As the novel coronavirus spreads across the globe, the National Health Commission of China announced that a delegation of experts from the World Health Organization will arrive in the country next Thursday.
A statement regarding this indicated that the foreign experts during this visit "will conduct a joint investigation with Chinese scientists" into the reasons for the virus's emergence and how it was transmitted to humans. The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed his disappointment that Chinese authorities delayed the international mission tasked with investigating the virus's origins.
