Two maids, one Asian and the other African, managed to steal gold jewelry belonging to their Arab employer and conceal it in their room in a way that made it difficult to discover easily. According to the case documents viewed by the Criminal Court in Dubai today, the accused stole four sets and accessories of gold valued at a quarter million dirhams, hiding them from their employer by placing them inside a plastic bag sewn next to the pocket of a skirt belonging to one of them, making it hard to see or discover.
The victim's son stated during the prosecution's investigations that his mother asked him to retrieve her gold from the wooden box she kept in her bedroom closet. Upon opening the closet and the box, he was surprised to find that all her jewelry was missing. He quickly went to the maids' room and found a collection of clothes in one of the wardrobes, including a skirt that felt heavy when he picked it up, leading him to discover the stitching near its pocket.
The witness added that he unpicked the side stitching and found a transparent plastic bag sewn into the fabric, containing some of his mother's gold. Consequently, he summoned the police, who arrived at the premises, seized the jewelry, and referred the two accused to the prosecution after completing the investigation procedures.
