Tragic Incident: Refugee in Turkey Kills His Daughter

In a tragic story, a 13-year-old girl lost her life after being beaten and burned with "thinner" by her father and sister for refusing to marry. Details reveal that a Palestinian-Syrian refugee in the Turkish city of Şanlıurfa set his daughter on fire for her refusal to marry and then fled the house with his second daughter. The father, identified as Muhammad, poured thinner on his daughter Qumra's body and locked her in the bathroom, as reported by the Turkish newspaper "Cumhuriyet" today, Tuesday.

Despite playing loud music during the crime to drown out the noise, neighbors heard the girl’s screams and rushed to the house, breaking down the bathroom door to rescue her. She was transported to the hospital but sadly succumbed to her severe injuries.

Before her death, the girl told the police that her father and sister had set her on fire, stating that she had been beaten prior to being burned. Neighbors revealed that the father, Muhammad, had recently moved to the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the Ayubiye district of Urfa with his daughters and was working in construction. Turkish police have arrested the father and his daughter, and they have been referred to court after being interrogated.
