Surveillance footage has revealed new scenes from the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, which occurred late Tuesday into Wednesday. The footage, seemingly recorded from a nearby house to the president's residence, shows several vehicles moving around the area, according to the British newspaper "The Sun." Among the vehicles involved were SUVs.
In addition to the cars, a number of armed individuals were seen rushing toward their target, with the cameras capturing seven of them, although it is believed that the actual number is much higher. Previous footage documented part of the assassination process, which was executed under the pretext of a drug enforcement operation in the vicinity.
In one of the videos, an individual can be heard speaking with an American accent through a loudspeaker, stating: "A special operation of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Everyone stay aside." The Miami Herald, an American newspaper that regularly covers events in Haiti, reported that the attackers claimed to be agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, according to videos filmed by residents in Moïse's neighborhood.
Later, Haitian authorities announced that four of the "mercenaries" who assassinated President Jovenel Moïse were killed, while two others were arrested. The National Police Director Leon Charles stated in a televised statement, "Four mercenaries were killed and two were captured. Three police officers who were held hostage have been freed."
