Urgent Warning About a Danger Facing Children in Homes

U.S. authorities have issued an urgent warning regarding treadmills found in homes, citing a significant danger to children posed by these devices. According to British network "Sky News," the Consumer Product Safety Commission stated on Sunday that it has received dozens of reports about children and pets being pulled by these machines, becoming trapped underneath. One child has died, and others have sustained bone fractures and bruises due to these devices. The safety commission noted that a child became stuck under a treadmill while one of their parents was running on it, indicating that young children are at risk even under adult supervision. However, "Peloton Interactive," one of the companies that produces these devices, rejected the warning, claiming it is "inaccurate and misleading," asserting that the machines are safe for children and pets. This stance came despite the company announcing in March the death of a child related to these devices, without disclosing further details about the location or timing of the incident or the identity of the deceased child. Peloton expressed, "There are no words to express the shock and sadness felt by everyone at Peloton due to this horrible tragedy." The cost of Peloton's treadmill is approximately $4,000.
