The French manufacturer of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline announced that construction of the pipelines between Russia and Germany has effectively resumed in Danish waters after a preparatory phase lasting about two weeks.
The company stated in a press release that the Russian vessel Fortuna, designated for pipeline construction, had begun work on January 24 and is now laying pipes following successful trials. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian expressed that French concerns regarding the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project between Russia and Germany are related to energy security in Europe. French Minister of State for European Affairs Clément Beaune had proposed to Berlin to freeze the project in response to the treatment of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny in his country.
