An official source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated to the Syrian News Agency (SANA) today that the Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks that occurred in Tayaran Square in central Baghdad, claiming the lives of numerous innocent citizens and injuring others. The source added that these cowardly terrorist acts demonstrate the urgent need for joint efforts to fight terrorism until this affliction is entirely eradicated, as it poses a serious threat to security and stability in the region and the world. The source concluded by expressing Syria's full solidarity and sympathy with the brotherly nation of Iraq in light of these treacherous terrorist attacks, extending sincere condolences to the leadership and people of Iraq as well as the families of the victims, along with wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. At least 32 civilians were killed, and more than 110 others were injured in two suicide bombings involving explosive belts at a second-hand clothing market in Tayaran Square, central Baghdad.
