Who is Ibrahim al-Qousi?

The U.S. State Department announced on Friday a reward of up to four million dollars for information on Ibrahim Ahmed Mahmoud al-Qousi, a prominent leader in al-Qaeda who receives orders from the group’s leadership in Iran. The "Rewards for Justice" account affiliated with the State Department called for information on the wanted terrorist in a tweet, stating, "This terrorist left his home in Sudan to take orders from al-Qaeda leadership in Iran to wreak havoc in Yemen and its people." The tweet noted that al-Qousi is also known as Sheikh Habib al-Sudani and Muhammad Salah Ahmed. He has appeared in the organization’s video recordings encouraging lone wolf attacks against the United States. The State Department urged individuals to report via WhatsApp, Telegram, or Signal.

Ibrahim al-Qousi was born in Sudan in 1960. He is known as Sheikh Habib al-Sudani and Muhammad Salah Ahmed, and he is a prominent leader in al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. He takes orders from al-Qaeda leadership in Iran and orchestrates terrorist operations in Yemen. He has encouraged launching solitary terrorist operations in the United States, with the U.S. State Department offering a 4 million dollar reward for information about him.
