A video went viral showing a young man sleeping between railway tracks in Egypt as a fast train passed by, an incident that angered Transportation Minister Kamel al-Wazir. The video shows the train moving at high speed while the young man lay dangerously positioned between the edges of the railway. Friends of the young man, who were present, filmed the stunt and congratulated him for taking the "dangerous challenge."
In a comment on the incident, the Egyptian transportation minister stated that authorities are currently pursuing the young man, affirming that they will not rest until they apprehend him. In a television interview, he said, "We are now searching for him. We will arrest him and we will not let him go," and emphasized that the young man had put himself in mortal danger. Al-Wazir referenced a series of train accidents in Egypt due to negligence, the most recent being a horrific collision between two trains in Sohag province last March, which resulted in 19 deaths and over 180 injuries. Among these incidents, he noted a three-wheeler operating on the railway before its driver was arrested. In another incident, a truck driver left his vehicle on the tracks and sat in a nearby café, narrowly avoiding disaster thanks to the quick action of the train driver who stopped before a collision occurred.
