President Michel Aoun has signed a decree granting the Higher Relief Committee a treasury advance of 50 billion Lebanese pounds to complete compensation payments for those affected by the Beirut port explosion.
The National News Agency clarified that President Michel Aoun signed decree number 7401 dated January 22, 2021, which provides the Higher Relief Committee with a treasury advance of 50 billion Lebanese pounds to complete compensation payments for victims of the Beirut port explosion. The compensations will be distributed according to the mechanism established by the army command and the Beirut governorate, based on priority lists prepared by the army.
The agency reported that President Aoun requested Army Commander Joseph Aoun to instruct the relevant parties to expedite the distribution of the compensations according to the specified priorities. Additionally, the agency mentioned that President Aoun signed decree number 7402 dated January 22, 2021, which extends the validity of clearance certificates issued by the National Social Security Fund, which expired between December 31, 2020, and March 30, 2021, to March 31, 2021.
