Mustafa Al-Nemr, a player from the Egyptian wrestling team, achieved a significant victory over his German and Ukrainian competitors, winning the gold medal in the masters' freestyle wrestling competitions at the World Championship currently taking place in Greece. Al-Nemr excelled in the finals, defeating the German player by a large points margin, earning the silver medal while the bronze went to the Ukrainian player, who suffered an early defeat by the Egyptian wrestler.
Al-Nemr, who competes at 62 kg, aims to secure another gold medal during this World Championship in Greece by participating in the Greco-Roman wrestling events next Sunday. Also, Salah Emara from the Egyptian team won a silver medal in freestyle wrestling on Thursday.
Issam Al-Nemr spoke with "Sky News Arabia" about this significant victory, expressing his great joy, as the last time Egypt won a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championship was in 2006 when Mohamed Abdel Fattah Bouji achieved it. Al-Nemr stated, "I earned this gold for Egypt after winning against the Ukrainian wrestler and then defeating the German wrestler by ten points to zero, securing the first place."
He continued, "I felt proud when my country's national anthem was played." He confirmed his complete readiness to win another gold medal for Egypt next Sunday in the Greco-Roman wrestling, for the opportunity to hear the Egyptian national anthem played again in front of the whole world.
Mustafa Al-Nemr is a professional in an American club and an Olympic-level wrestler in Greco-Roman wrestling, having won the world championship four times, the Mediterranean championship twice, and the African championship three times. He spoke about his teammate Salah Emara in the 125 kg category, who won the silver in freestyle wrestling, saying, "Emara delivered a very commendable performance, losing the final match by a narrow margin against the Iranian wrestler." Emara had previously won against the Russian and Turkish wrestlers but was not successful against the Iranian.
