Detecting Counterfeit Money Using Mobile Phones

Anastasia Ilyicheva, an expert in testing the Gem4me Messenger application, stated that there are special applications on smartphones that allow for the detection of counterfeit banknotes. The expert added, "For example, in Russia, the Central Bank's application called 'Banknotes of Russia' is successfully used for this purpose." She noted that "this application does not automatically detect real banknotes using the camera; instead, it provides a list of signs to look for and indicates what should be checked." Users can independently examine the banknotes for authenticity through the program's interface. There is also an application called "Counterfeit Money Scanner," which allows for the examination of not only rubles but also dollars and euros. To verify, users must point their smartphone camera at the banknote and wait for the program's response, which will provide a positive or negative answer regarding the authenticity of the currency.
