President Michel Aoun cast his vote in Haret Hreik and commented on the electoral process by saying: "Voting is a duty for every citizen and there should be no neutrality in a major issue represented by choosing the system of governance.” MTV's correspondent reported that some young men approached President Aoun with offensive remarks while he was at the polling station, and they were subsequently detained.
