Kerry Responds to Leaked Audio of Zarif Regarding Israeli Strikes on Iranian Targets in Syria

John Kerry, the U.S. climate envoy for President Joe Biden, commented on the leaked audio of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in which Zarif indicated that Kerry had informed him about Israeli strikes against Iranian targets in Syria. Kerry addressed this in a tweet, asserting, "I can tell you that this story and the allegations are unequivocally false... This never happened, either when I was Secretary of State or since then." Zarif had sparked widespread reactions by expressing surprise in the leaked audio at the number of Israeli strikes he claimed Kerry informed him about, stating it was at least 200. Kerry's denial comes after criticisms from conservatives regarding the alleged illegal sharing of information with Iran that could undermine the U.S. relationship with Israel.
