3.5 Million Adults Affected by

In the UK, approximately 6.2% of adults, or about 3.5 million people, are suffering from prolonged symptoms due to COVID-19, impacting their health and ability to work. Bloomberg News reported, citing the Office for National Statistics, that six out of ten individuals surveyed by the office indicated they experienced post-COVID syndrome or "long COVID." They stated that the illness has affected their overall health, with half of them noting that it has made it difficult to perform their jobs.

The figures indicate symptoms that persist physically and socially due to the virus, which first hit the UK in early 2020. It is noted that post-COVID syndrome is more common in deprived areas. Age is another significant factor, as individuals under fifty years old perceive a higher risk of ongoing effects from the disease. It is also likely that symptoms will affect more younger people, as this segment of the population has not yet received full vaccination against the virus.
