Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamiye, pointed out that "the railway project in Lebanon is geopolitical and strategic." In a television interview with "Al-Mayadeen," he explained that "the recovery of Lebanese territories is a sovereign project, including the tunnel lands." Hamiye confirmed that "all companies are invited to participate in the reconstruction of the Port of Beirut... and the decision has been made to rebuild it."
