Interfax news agency reported on Friday that the head of Russian airline Aeroflot stated that charter flights to Egyptian resorts are expected to resume within days after a years-long halt. Flights to tourist destinations in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada were suspended following the crash of a Russian passenger plane over Sinai in October 2015, which resulted in the deaths of 224 people. The aircraft was transporting Russian tourists from Sharm El Sheikh to St. Petersburg in 2015 when it crashed over the Sinai Peninsula, killing everyone on board in an incident claimed by a group linked to the Islamic State.
