Lebanese Dialogue Initiative in Doha

The Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Qabas" reported today that Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will carry an initiative to gather Lebanese parties for a dialogue in Doha during his upcoming visit to Beirut.

"Al-Qabas" quoted sources saying that "the Qatari side will not announce its initiative until after receiving the approval of all Lebanese parties to participate in the dialogue," indicating that "the Qatari side has received preliminary approval from the majority of Lebanese political forces, particularly Hezbollah and President Michel Aoun's team." The sources did not rule out discussions about providing financial support to Lebanon, which is suffering from a severe political crisis and a financial and economic crisis.

The Qatari embassy in Beirut announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman will visit Lebanon today, where he will hold a press conference at the presidential palace in Baabda following his meeting with President Aoun.
