Patriarch Raï Discusses Bishop al-Hajj's Detention in Naqoura

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Raï welcomed the Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Moussa al-Hajj at the Patriarchal See in Diman. They discussed the details of al-Hajj's detention at the General Security Center in Naqoura for 11 hours, during which he was subjected to interrogation and a thorough search. All of the supplies he was carrying, including medications and his personal mobile phone, were confiscated without regard for his religious status. He was released following interventions from high-ranking ecclesiastical and judicial authorities. Upon arriving at the Patriarchal See, Bishop al-Hajj noted that he was treated with respect during the 11 hours of detention, during which he faced many questions.

Additionally, Patriarch Raï also received the president of the American-Lebanese Foundation Tony Mahfoud, as well as Father Raphael Zghibi and a Polish delegation from UNIFIL.
