The site highlighted that Ashmawi was considered the most renowned executioner in Egypt, having retired several years ago, and he was consulted for various films and series to perform execution scenes in dramas. Ashmawi's son told "Egyptian Today" that he died from a heart attack after spending twenty years executing sentences by hanging at the Prisons Authority. The body was buried in Dakahlia, and condolences will be offered tomorrow in Cairo.

The son also mentioned that the burial took place in the village of Menia Semnod, belonging to the Ajah center in Dakahlia. Ashmawi's siblings and relatives performed the funeral prayer at the cemetery, and his body was laid to rest in the family tombs in Menia Semnod. It is noted that Hussein Ashmawi, the most famous executioner, carried out a total of 1,070 death sentences, making him the largest executor of death sentences since the 1990s until his retirement in 2011.
