Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Liverpool player and top scorer in the English Premier League, has won another award in his football career after the International Centre for Sports History and Statistics (IFFHS) announced him as the Best Player in Africa. The center also announced the winners of the best awards in Africa for the current year 2021.
Algerian player Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City star, won the title of Best Playmaker in the African continent. In terms of coaching, Algerian Djamel Belmadi, the head coach of his national team, was named Best National Team Coach after the team's outstanding performance and series of victories this year. South African Pitso Mosimane, the coach of Egyptian club Al Ahly, won the title of Best African Club Coach after leading Al Ahly to win the African Champions League, the African Super Cup, and securing third place in the Club World Cup.
Mohamed Salah leads the English Premier League's top scorers and continues to shine in his fifth season with the team, shortly before the expected announcement of a contract renewal to keep him with the Reds.
The international center announced the rest of the awards, with Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy of Chelsea being named Best African Goalkeeper in 2021. South African Victor Gomez won the title of Best African Referee, while Burkina Faso's Lassina Traore, a player for Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, received the title of Best Young Player Under 20.
