Pfizer Vaccine Inventor: No Need for Third Dose

The CEO of BioNTech and co-inventor of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, Ugur Sahin, stated that while the immunity provided by the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech against the coronavirus may decrease, most vaccinated individuals will still be protected against severe COVID-19 infection. According to Sahin, as reported by the American news site Dow Jones, vaccinated individuals may not need a third dose. Bloomberg reported that Sahin's remarks come after preliminary data showed that individuals vaccinated in January were three times more likely to contract the disease than those vaccinated in May. Sahin added that there is no evidence of a decline in cellular immunity since most cases of infection will not lead to severe disease.
