Conditions to Meet Before Donating Blood

The Federal Center for Health Education stated that certain conditions must be met before donating blood. The key conditions include that the donor must be between 18 and 60 years of age and weigh at least 50 kg.

The German center added that the donor should be in good health and not suffer from diseases such as iron deficiency or diabetes, and their body temperature must be normal.

Donation is not permitted for four months after tattooing, four weeks after vaccination with live vaccines, and one week after a minor infection like a cold. Additionally, blood donation is not allowed for four weeks after contracting COVID-19.

Donating blood on an empty stomach is not allowed, and it is essential to eat and drink adequately before and after donation to avoid circulatory problems. Engaging in strenuous exercise on the day of donation is also prohibited.

In the case of vaccination against COVID-19 with available vaccines, donation can take place the following day, provided there are no complications from the vaccination, such as fever or local swelling.
