Tesla: "Remarkable" Surge in Electric Vehicle Sales

Tesla:

Tesla achieved a significant leap in electric vehicle sales during the first quarter of this year, according to official data from the company. Tesla reported that it sold approximately 185,000 electric vehicles during the mentioned period, nearly doubling the figure sold in the same period last year. Despite the global shortage of semiconductor chips used in electric vehicle production, the company recorded a record number of deliveries during the months of January, February, and March. Tesla's revenue in the first quarter rose to $10.39 billion, up from $5.99 billion in the same period last year. The company's CEO and founder, Elon Musk, stated that this period faced "some of the toughest supply chain challenges we have encountered at Tesla." The company revealed it expects its sales growth this year to exceed 50% and is on track to begin production and deliveries at its factories in Texas and Berlin. Tesla is also seeking to bolster confidence in its self-driving programs, amid an investigation by U.S. federal authorities following 28 incidents involving its vehicles.
