Death of Portugal Handball Goalkeeper After Suffering Heart Attack

Alfredo Quintana, goalkeeper for the Portugal national handball team and FC Porto, suffered a heart attack last week during his team's training in preparation for upcoming matches.

Today, it was announced that goalkeeper Alfredo Quintana has passed away at the age of 32. Quintana was with his national team during the recent Handball World Championship held in Egypt, where Portugal finished in tenth place, and Denmark won the title. Quintana won the Portuguese League title six times with FC Porto and played 56 international matches for Portugal. He also represented Portugal in the 2020 European Handball Championship, where the team finished sixth. Notably, Portuguese media confirmed that Quintana was transferred to the hospital after suffering the heart attack, but he could not recover and passed away shortly thereafter at the age of 32.
