The consultative session of the Libyan House of Representatives was held in Tobruk today, Monday, with the attendance of the Council's President, Aguila Saleh.
The media office of the House of Representatives stated yesterday, Sunday, that the session will discuss the necessary arrangements for considering granting confidence to the new government, as reported by the "Africa" news portal. In his remarks during the session, the representative from the south, Ali Al-Saeedi, called for the presidency of the Council to be assigned to the Fezzan region (the south), stating, "As long as the presidency of the presidential council has been assumed by a figure from the east, and the position of the prime minister has been held by a person from the west, it is the right of southern Libya to head the Libyan House of Representatives."
Earlier, the new President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, met with the President of the Libyan House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, in the city of Al-Bayda in eastern Libya yesterday, Sunday. According to a statement from Al-Menfi's media office, the meeting focused on discussions regarding granting confidence to the upcoming government by the House of Representatives. The new government needs to be granted confidence by the Libyan House of Representatives in Tobruk to commence its official duties.
