Due to the current unstable conditions in the republic, Saudi Arabia evacuated members of its diplomatic mission from Afghanistan on Sunday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that all members of the Kingdom's embassy have been evacuated from the Afghan capital, Kabul. It also announced that all members of the mission have safely arrived in their homeland.
The decision by the Kingdom came in light of the recent developments there, particularly after the Taliban entered the capital, Kabul, and formally took control within hours following the flight of security forces. The movement ordered its fighters to enter Kabul under the pretext of "preventing looting," asserting that it had secured police stations, Kabul University, and the Ministry of Education after security centers were vacated of their personnel.
Meanwhile, the Afghan president left the country along with the national security advisor via helicopter on Sunday afternoon, and a senior official in the Afghan interior ministry confirmed the news. The Afghan presidency emphasized that the movements of President Ghani could not be disclosed for security reasons.
