Following a decrease in fuel demand, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a drop in wages for nearly one in every three workers in the oil and gas sector, according to a global wage survey.
Salaries in this sector are linked to oil prices, which declined last year as fuel demand fell due to lockdowns caused by the coronavirus. The survey report indicated that only 37% of oil and gas workers said their wages increased in 2020, compared to 50% the previous year, while wages in the oil and gas sector remained the highest in the world.
