Pentagon: Any War with China or Russia Would Destroy the World

The Pentagon has affirmed that the United States' goal is to avoid entering into a war with Russia and China, as such a conflict would be devastating for the entire world. General John Hyten, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated during a seminar organized by the Brookings Institution, "In principle, we have never fought the Soviet Union. Regarding great powers, our goal is to avoid a war with China and Russia because that day would be terrible for our countries." He further emphasized, "It would destroy the world and the global economy. It would be bad for everyone, and we must ensure that we do not go down this path."

Speaking about Russia, he mentioned the successes achieved in dialogue with Moscow. "We have made considerable progress with the Soviet Union, and now with Russia, we are negotiating with them regarding strategic stability to ensure that we understand the current situation. This is not only related to the nuclear field but also to space." He concluded by stating, "Regardless of our differences, we have a fundamental common goal, which is to never clash, as war with a nuclear state is detrimental."
