A new study in Britain has revealed that negative feelings about body shape impact the mental health of 58% of men. The study was conducted as part of a British charity campaign to prevent suicide, involving over 2000 men aged between 16 and 40 who experience negative feelings about their bodies. According to the findings, 58% expressed negative feelings towards their body shape, while only 26% reported being happy with their appearance.
The study indicated that those with negative feelings about their appearance experienced varying degrees of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and a lack of self-confidence, which often leads to isolation. Researchers emphasized the importance of avoiding comparisons among men regarding body shapes and encouraged addressing any bodily concerns, such as weight gain or sagging, through exercise, healthy eating, and a balanced lifestyle, according to Metro.
