U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he will act quickly to pass his economic rescue package in Congress, even if it has to be done without Republican support.
Biden pointed out that many Americans are nearing their breaking point. In his speech, he said, "I see tremendous pain in this country, many people out of work, and many people hungry. I believe the American people are now looking to their government for help, so I will act, and I will act quickly." This comes as the U.S. Senate adopted a budget resolution that allows Democrats to pass Biden's proposed $1.9 trillion economic rescue package without needing Republican support.
